History of the Stadium Stampede Match

The Stadium Stampede match is a tag team cinematic match that originated in All Elite Wrestling. This match has happened three times in the history of the company - twice at AEW's Double or Nothing pay-per-view and once at AEW's largest event ever - AEW ALL IN: London. The match typically involves 10 wrestlers in a 5 v 5 match, and all 5 wrestlers of the 2 teams are each part of an established faction in AEW.

The first Stadium Stampede between The Inner Circle and The Elite from AEW Double or Nothing 2020

The often violent and brutal match is contested under hardcore rules and it starts in a ring in the middle of the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, and progresses through various environments, such as bars, cargo loading areas and offices. The 2020 edition of this match stayed within the empty Jaguars Stadium and featured teams brawling around the stadium, while the 2021 edition of the match had combatants exit the empty arena and then finally end up in the audience-present central event space at the adjacent Daily's Place outdoor amphitheater, where the match was finished in the Daily's Place ring. Chris Jericho's former faction The Inner Circle has participated in both matches. The 2023 edition of this match was held in Wembley Stadium during AEW's ALL IN: London, which was full of 81.035 fans at the time of the match. It was the largest crowd in AEW and professional wrestling history! The match was originally scheduled to have Rey Fenix in it but he was pulled at the last minute due to issues with his passport, thus an injury angle was done with Jon Moxley injuring Fenix before the pay-per-view and taking him out of the match which made it a 5 v 5 match when the match was originally scheduled to be a 6 v 6 match with Blackpool Combat Club's team having three special members (when Fenix was taken out they only had 2 surprise members of their team which was revealed to be Santana and Ortiz who was making their AEW returns for the first time since AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts 2022 a year ago.

The second-ever Stadium Stampede took place at AEW Double or Nothing 2021 and featured The Inner Circle battling The Pinnacle
